Why is aluminum fence the best choice for a horse fence

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

You could be a person owning a total horse farm or just few horses! In both the cases what you mainly need is a good safety for them so that are well protected and you can look after them well. Just imagine that a fence is flexible and your horses in no time

Will be outside the boundaries of your farm or a stable because they have a great tendency to push their necks and heads into the fences! Hence for this reason most of the farmers prefer their horse fence to be an aluminium fence, which suits perfectly for the purpose.

When you know that the best choice of a horse fence is the aluminium fence, and then why not go for the best? This aluminium fence is equally strong as an iron, but at the same time rust formation is not seen. It is powder coated, so if you want to paint your fence you can do it with ease. It is has high durability standards and another advantage is that maintenance is not required and at the same time they provide a lifetime warranty so that the owner can just sit back and relax without getting tensed about protecting his horses! Vinyl fence is another option for horse fencing.

Golden retriever or Yellow labrador

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

I am thinking of getting or a golden retriever or a yellow lab. what are the main differences in :
-personality
-energy
-maintenance
-cudlyness (like to cuddle or not)
-space needed
-exercise needed
-and whatever else you can think of

Personality- Both dogs are very similar! They both are very playful, outgoing, social and love almost everyone including children and other dogs!
Energy- The Golden Retriever has a moderate to high energy level while the Labrador Retriever has a high energy level.
Maintenance-Golden Retriever needs exercise and grooming and Laborador Retriever needs exercise and training!!
They both are very friendly and make great cuddlers!!
They both need large spaces to run and roam around!
Both need lots of excersise (like mentioned before high energy levels!)
They both are around the same height and weight between 21.5-24 inches (GR) and 21.5-24.5 inches (LR) and around the same weight 55-75 pounds (GR) and 55-80 pounds (LR)
So it basically comes down to which dog you think is cuter!
Hope this helps and good luck on the future pup!

Does my puppy look like he has devil horns on her head, rosemarys puppy maybe?

How old is that puppy???? Please tell me he is still with his mother and siblings????? He looks so young.

As for the markings, I have seen a couple of puppies with markings like that. It could change as he gets older and his face elongates.

How many times a week should you clean a horses stable?

Monday, July 14th, 2008

7-14.. aka 1 to 2x a day. They don’t stand in their own waste in nature, they shouldn’t be forced to in their stall. Better for their feet, health, etc..

……….

At least daily. I only have one horse that is confined to his stall every night and his stall gets cleaned every morning so he doesn’t have to go back into a stall in the evening with manure all over the place. I have donkey that is confined to his stall and attached run every night. He chooses to poop in his run, I pick that up every morning too. The other two horses have free access to their stall and small paddocks. They never poop in their stalls unless the weather is really crappy.

There is no excuse except laziness for leaving manure in a horse’s stall for more than it takes to notice it is there.

Horses are very clean animals and will not eat or sleep where they poop if they have a choice. Should I ever have to confine a horse to his stall all day it gets cleaned at least three times during the day.

Help fixing a mouthy 2 yr old gelding?

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

he is a horse that i am boarding. i’ve been doing the john lyons 3 second war with him and it has helped quite a bit but he is still nippy. i was just out petting him and he tried to bite me(playfully, as a young horse will) but i want it to stop. he hasn’t nipped in about 3-4 weeks so i know it is working but how much longer will it take? he has been here for 3 months with 3 other horses(1/4 horse arabian mare,19yrs, tb mare,13 yrs, and a 10 yr old tb gelding) other than him being mouthy he is a pleasure to have here. do i just need to keep up the 3 second war?

If it’s working, it’s working.

Avoid anything that would cause him to regress and keep following your course of action.

If it’s not working, examine why: is it the program itself, the way you’re handling it, etc.? Based on that, either find a new solution or readjust how you’re treating your colt.

——–

Some horses really tend to nippy or mouthy behavior much more than others, and it can make your job tough even when you do everything right. I honestly believe that the worst horses are ones that grow up as “only horses”. They don’t learn good horse behavior with other horses, and therefore they can’t apply those manners to people so easily. If they grow up with a group they learn “don’t mess with the boss”, but as an only colt he gets away with too much from his mom and doesn’t learn the respect thing. Now he’s older and with other horses, so that will help, but if they miss that early stuff they often never quite catch up.
So I’m going to assume that for whatever reason this horse is just tougher than average. So don’t give up on yourself, he might be a chore for a long time. And since I owned one like this a few years ago, and worked with him for two years and never totally solved all the problems, I don’t have a miracle cure for you! Except - don’t buy one that is wired that way!
If this horse hasn’t tried for 3 weeks, then you are obviously on the right track. I would stick with the John Lyons thing and not give up since you’re making progess. I would also continue with lots of respectful groundwork. Make sure he knows to keep out of your space. He cannot nip you when he’s standing politely a few feet away. I’m a big believer in having him move forwards, backwards, sideways, etc regularily and keeping him respectful on the ground, that really helps with him remembering who the boss is. I would really suggest you flip the rope at him when he gets too close, or wiggle your elbow when leading, or whatever so he gets in a habit to not get into your space unless invited. Be very careful you don’t feed him from your hands, if you want to give him a treat put it on the ground.

What kind of fish should i get?

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

1.      shave it.

2.      I know this isn’t a fish, but you should consider getting African mini-frogs. They are fun to watch and play well with other fish.

3.      Maybe 3 or 4 African cichlids. 20 is too small for Dempseys and large cichlids.

4.      Damzels

5.      female betta are nice, you can find them in pretty colors if you look hard, and lots of little guys like neons and tetras are pretty easy

6.      I don’t know much about fish. But one thing I do know is get fish that can mix together. They say three of the same.

7.      The cute little mini sharks.

8.      cichlids are mean dont get them!!!! i have some danio’s platty’s those are the ones i have had the best luck with. but make sure to get a succker fish or and algi eater also… snails aren’t that great.

Do u find cats scary?

Saturday, December 1st, 2007
  1. No I don’t and you wouldn’t either if you gave them a chance.
  2. OMG yes! and cat ppl get insulted when i get scared of their cats

as to why? i dunno something in the eyes, the way they strut…the whole superstition thing about them…..both my siblings claim they saw a black cat in their room when they awoke in the mid of the night and everything in the house was locked…both were on different occasions

  3. I definitely find cats creepy. I couldn’t tell you exactly why, but I think it is because they remind me of evil magic( you know black cats and witches).
  4. I love cats! Had cats all my life! Never had a dog. Cats are so cool!
  5. I find them intriguing! You never know what is going on in that head. And their eyes are just stunning! It is kinda creepy when they jump up and do the crazy cat run without any provocation, but hell, it’s really entertaining after the initial startle.
  6. No I like cats but some can look scary if they have no ears or something or those hairless cats, those are creepy.
  7. shave it.
  8. No not at all….but I know someone who is…..lol

Are there any downs to neutering a cat?

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Neutering your cat is an excellent thing to do. However, you asked for possible down-sides, so I’ll give you the list — It’s short!

1) Your cat may be more prone to obesity, especially if it’s an older cat when it’s neutered.
2) Your cat may have a bit less energy after it has been neutered. This is typically considered good, because it means it’s less likely to run out in the street or something and get hurt!
3) There’s a very, VERY slight chance of a problem with the operation, or infection afterward. Just be sure to keep him/her inside as long as the vet recommends
